Does Dressmaker have Steam Cloud saves?

Yes. Steam Cloud syncs the whole Cozy Lives\Dressmaker save folder on both Windows and Mac.

Is there a Dressmaker save editor?

Not one we can point you to. If you try editing a save by hand, copy the whole folder somewhere safe first, with the game closed.

Dressmaker save file location

Dressmaker keeps everything in one folder called Cozy Lives\Dressmaker, and Steam Cloud syncs that whole folder. Here's where it lives on each system, and how to back it up before you try anything risky.

Where the saves are

Windows: C:\Users\<you>\AppData\LocalLow\Cozy Lives\Dressmaker
Mac: ~/Documents/Cozy Lives/Dressmaker
Steam Deck: ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/4019220/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/LocalLow/Cozy Lives/Dressmaker

On Windows, paste %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Cozy Lives\Dressmaker into the File Explorer address bar and press Enter. AppData is a hidden folder, so this is quicker than clicking your way there.

The Mac and Steam Deck paths are worked out from the folder Steam Cloud syncs for the game. No Mac player has confirmed the Mac one to us yet. On Steam Deck the game runs through Proton, so its Windows folder sits inside Proton's fake C: drive. 4019220 is Dressmaker's Steam app ID.

Steam Cloud

Dressmaker supports Steam Cloud on Windows and Mac. Steam syncs everything in the save folder, so if you play on a second PC your shop comes with you. To check it's on: right-click Dressmaker in your Steam Library, open Properties, and look for the Steam Cloud toggle under General.

Steam Cloud copies whatever is in the folder, including a broken save. It's not a backup, so keep your own copy too.

Back up a save

Quit Dressmaker completely. Copying files while the game is open can give you a half-written save.
Open the save folder for your system (see the table above).
Copy the whole Dressmaker folder somewhere else, like your desktop. Keep the file names as they are.
To restore, quit the game and copy your backup back over the folder.

Do this before you try a mod, delete a slot, or test anything from a bug thread.

If your save is gone

Don't start a new game yet. First copy whatever is still in the folder, even if the game says it's corrupted.
Check Steam Cloud. Steam lists the files it holds for each game on your account's Steam Cloud page. If Dressmaker files are there, they may be an older working copy.
Ask the developer. Lost saves are worth reporting on the game's Steam discussion board, with your system and what happened just before.
