Step 1: install the mod loader

Yuuma's Dressmaker ModLoader (116,341 downloads) is what almost every other mod needs. It's built on BepInEx and has separate Windows and Mac downloads.

Download the file for your system (Windows or macOS) from the loader's Files tab on Nexus.
In Steam, right-click Dressmaker → Properties → Installed Files → Browse Local Files. That opens the game folder.
Unzip the download into its own folder first.
Windows: drag everything from the zip into the game folder. Put it straight into the Dressmaker folder, not into a subfolder.
Mac: run the .command file from the zip.

Step 2: add mods from inside the game

With the loader in, open Options → Mod Manager. From there you install content packs, switch them on and off, and update them. Options → Mod Settings holds the loader's own settings. If a pack doesn't show up, Mod Manager's Loading problems list says why.

A dress made with modded fabric needs that pack installed to look right. Remove a pack only after backing up any save that uses it.

What the loader can do on its own

Sandbox Mode: buy items without spending gold.
Always 100% piece quality: perfect cutting quality in any grain direction.
Allow unfinished dresses: finish without placing or sewing every piece. Handy if you're hit by the missing finish button.
Save backups: Options → Mod Manager → Save backups, and it backs up automatically when it finds your saves.
Make your own: turn an image into a fabric, or a transparent PNG into an accessory patch.
